Sun Ra & The Blues Project - Batman & Robin (1966)

Sun Ra & The Blues Project - Batman & Robin

This album was recorded during the 60's Batman craze and was  initially credited to the "The Sensational Guitars of Dan and Dale"  when in fact it really was a union of Sun Ra's Arkestra and Danny Kalb's Blues Project (one of the first psychedelic rock bands as well as one of the world's first jam bands).

The musicians that are featured on this album are simply killer with both
Danny Kalb and Steve Katz (later of Blood, Sweat & Tears) on dueling guitars, Sun Ra and his band and the legendary Al Kooper on Hammond B3 !

La Maschera Di Cera - Le Porte Del Domano (2014)

La Maschera Di Cera - Le Porte Del Domano (2014)

La Maschera Di Cera are a wonderful progressive rock band from Italy!   I have been following them for quite some time now and have picked up all of their albums to date.

Ray Barretto - Acid (1972)

Ray Barretto - Acid

Ray Barretto's early albums are all excellent and I love this one too......although I must warn you that the album cover is very psychy but the music is not really !  (just in case you think this)..

The music (although not psych) is superb with some groovy and "catchy-as-hell" songs that will keep your hands tapping and your toes tipping !

Free-man (2014)

Free-man - 180g Vinyl

Aaron Freeman is one of the two brothers (Gene Ween) that once formed a wonderful psych/pop band called WEEN.   I was a huge fan of WEEN and think albums like "white Pepper" and " The Mollusc" were simply divine !

I ordered this album as soon as i heard it was going to be released.

Robin Kenyatta - Gypsy Man (1973)

Robin Kenyatta - Gypsy Man

Gypsy Man was a landmark album for funk and jazz enthusiasts worldwide and remains a pinnacle album of the 70's.  The truth is that I dont think Kenyatta really did anything in his career quite as good as this album !

Fusion meets psychedelic meets jazz meets rock ....all twirled into one astonishing album that WILL blow your mind!

Kenyatta honks his sax and toots his flute to some  groovy grooves while his musical pals create a wonderful landscape to develop these great musical pictures.   Kenyatta bring along a few friends to help him develop this masterpiece including Billy Cobham, Stanley Clarke and David Spinozza.

A fantatsic album with some very cool vibes and sonic imagery for you to get lost in

Along the way we also get a bit of Stevie Wonder and Gato Barbieri!

Simply an essential album !!!!!

Michael Nesmith- Infinite Rider On The Big Dogma (1979)

Michael Nesmith - Infinite Rider On The Big Dogma

Michael  Nesmith was of course a member of the Monkees and a prolific composer , singer and songwriter.  Nesmit wrestled between Country and Pop genres throughout his career and "Infinite Rider" is a fine example of his complete skills.

As the 70's drew to an end Nesmith released this little gem of an album which showcases some great funk, lite-country , rock and pop moods with solid singing and strong musicianship throughout.  Songs like "Carioca" and "Magic" are just fantatsic pop songs that need to heard by everyone.

This was Nesmith's 9th studio album released and IMHO a very mature release with a nice varied approach and sensitivity throughout the album.
