Nightingales and Bombers is one of personal favourite MMEB albums as the band clearly took a bold step towards what would become more of their signature sound with pop cross prog songs. This also was the first albums to feature a Springsteen written tune....and this would be a relationship that would continue on further albums. Apparently the album was dedicated to an ornithologist who in England during the second world war was attempting to record nightingales but instead but both birds and bombers.
This and Solar Fire are two most progressive albums that Manfred Mann and his Earth Band recorded.
Brilliant music !
