Strawberry Alarm Clock - Good Morning Starshine (1969)
The Strawberry Alarm Clock will be forever remembered as the band that recorded the 1967 hit "Incense and Peppermints".........but they were so much more........... The Good Morning Starshine LP failed to sell and the critics hated this album. Yet I think they all got this one totally wrong to be honest.....this album is simply one of the great un`s..... This album is a heavy mix of Hendrix-daze and acid psych with some flowerpower tossed in for good measure. The harmonies are all there and many of the songs are really psychy numbers with some great musicanship. I love the organ on this album..kind of a mix of The Doors and The Beach Boys.
The title track "Good Morning Starshine"peaked at something like 87 at the time ...only to be later re-recorded by Oliver as a major hit....oh well....you can``t win em all i guess.....

James...I think the Oliver version of Good Morning Starshine is far superior to the SAC version.
