The Pretenders - II (

The Pretenders - II,

Can - Soon Over Babaluma (1974)

Can - Soon Over Babaluma, Spoon Records, 1974

Can i will admit is an acquired taste and certainly not a band that is immediate for even the most ardent listeners out there but if you really give this band a chance you will find pure magic in these early Krautrock albums.  Soon Over Babaluma was the first album without lead vox  Damo Suzuki but still shines as bright as the star over Babaluma.   What you do get is an angular album that twists and warps into musical places i can almost guarantee you have never heard before...Can were a band well ahead of their time and only now are being recognized for their creative genius.  This album is truely a great headphone experience album and one of me favourite Krautrock albums from the 70's.

Black Mountain - In The Future (2008)

Black Mountain -In The Future, Scratch Records 2008 deluxe edition (2 cd set)

In The Future was the second album by Canadian rock dark lords...this time delivering a progressive nightmare with some lovely synth work.  Heavy for sure and definitely not your Sunday breakfast cereal type of band but holy moly these guys can really rock it out.  Fans of Black Sabbath and Led Zep will surely love this band as will prog heads.    The 2 cd set carries 3 great extra tracks that were part of the concept and were only available to those lucky enough to have swung the deluxe edition.  This is one of the best overall rock albums I have heard in years and I judge this as I have not stop playing this since the day i bought it back in 2008 !  essential

Änglagård - Epilog (1994)

Änglagård  - Epilog , Mellotronon Records , 1994

Anglagaard's 2 studio albums have been simply treasures in my collection since their release.  Epilog is my personal favourite of the two (Hybris is also very good though) and this album remains one of my personal favourite progressive albums of all time.   Heavy forboding mellotron laden epic tracks that simply will blow your mind.

The Moody Blues - Seventh Sojourn (1972)

The Moody Blues - Seventh Sojourn , Decca Records , 1972

The Moody`s ``Seventh Sojourn`` was the final album that really captured my attention !   It was also i think the album where things were beginning to fall apart for this band but musically you couldnt tell.....the magic was still very much there........New Horizon is perhaps one of the greatest symphonic prog rock tracks of all time and the album is so memorable.

Johnny Mathis - I`ll Buy You A Star (1961)

Johnny Mathis - I`ll Buy You A Star , Columbia Records, 1961

Johnny Mathis....are you kidding me ?  No way am i kidding...........This album swings and grooves to the max !     If you are a fan of the big band and crooner scene then look no further than this album.   Essentially this is the Sinatra recipe with the big band wall of sound as created by Nelson Riddle and his orchestra and then the simply killer smooth voice and range of Johnny !   "Ill buy you a star" is THE album to croone out to kids.......trust me this album will hold your attention

RPWL - World Through My Eyes (2005)

RPWL - World Through My Eyes, Tempus Fugit Records, 2005 SACD

Here is a picture perfect album  that should have been widly recognized as one of the best rock albums of the last 10 years.  Wow......i can`t believe that this album flew under the radar of the masses....anyway let me just say that this is a real treasure.  Ray Wilson from new time Genesis joins the band on `Roses`` and makes a nice little contribution.   I dont know where these guys came from but wow what anb album.  Highly recommended to all fans of Progressive and Classic Rock.

Peter Gabriel - Security (1982)

Peter Gabriel - Security, Universal Music, 1982, RealWorld SACD

Gabriel's 4th album, security was one of my high school masterpieces...an album I still adore today.  Who could forget San Jacinto or Shock the monkey (notoriously referred to back then as "slap your monkey").   My brother Danny hated Peter Gabriel and hated this album...i still cant figure this guy out...but lets leave that for another day.   I picked up Realworlds SACD version of this album and it is just simple amazing.,.....i am hearing things I have heard before....and what a great sound.  This was at the time a pure digital recording and has been really survived the legacies of time.    I have always loved the percussive vibes this album exudes......the rhythm of the heat .......brilliant album from start to fishing net !
