Billy Cobham - Spectrum (1973)

Billy Cobham - Spectrum

Considered by most fusion fans to be one of the pinnacle albums to own....plain and simple.........and I can not argue!

Cobham was right fresh from his stint with the Mahavishnu Orchestra and this album is dripping in both creativity and lunar landings!

Cobham is one of the great drummers and this album get to showcase this clearly!   Cobham calls on a few friends to help with Jan Hammer handling the synths/keys, Tommy Bolin on guitars, Lee Sklar on bass, Ron Carter and Ray Barretto on congas.

Musically this album is rich and full in tempo and straddles both rock and jazz to perfection ....pure fusion...

There are some wild moments with Hammer , Sklar, Bolin and Cobham caught in grooves of unquestionable spirit and mahyhem!

"What is life but a spectrum and what is music but life itself"
