Beethoven wrote perhaps this most immediatly recognizeable symphony in 1808..known of course for the urgent 4 note motif...ba da da daaaaaaaaa......
Bernard Haitink draws the LSO on this electrically charged recordiing clearly into the mind of it's creator drawing out every ounce of emotion and energy. This SACD also contains the wonderful 1st Symphony but it is the 5th that steals the big win on this disc.
