Killer rare groove LP from a very funky Lou Donaldson! This album has it all going for it........great sax work of Lou and some crazy organ from Lonnie Smith (who I adore). Rounding out the lot is Melvin Lastie on the cornet, George Benson (the legend) on guitar and Leo Morris on the drums.
Super groovy stuff going on and every song is just fantastic....they dont make em like this anymore! Once the groove hits the pace these guys just keep it grovin' and movin'.......that is until the last track on the album"I Want A Little Girl" which slows everything down to a snails pace and delivers a fantatsic moody number that feels more blue than jazz.
Overall a superb album that must be heard !
