Steve Hackett - Genesis Revisited II, 2012
In 1996 Steve Hackett released "Watcher Of The Skies" which along with a cast of dear friends revisited early Genesis songs with some new interpretations and now in 2012 returns to the Giant Hogweed with this excellent compilation.
Again in a very similar format to the 1996 release Hackett is joined by John Wetton, brother John Hackett, Steve Rothery, Neal Morse, Roine Stolt, Nik Kershaw, Steve Wilson and Francis Dunnery and others to revisit 21 other Genesis and Hackett solo songs. There are a lot of great moments on this compilation and you can tell this was a work of love with such powerful results. Mr. Hackett of course plays on most of the tracks and it is cool to hear such vocal and instrumental variations on such classics as "Suppers Ready", "Can-Utility", "The Musical Box", "The Lamia", "Afterglow".....and on and on......
Fans of Hackett-era Genesis will love this compilation.........of course its hard to ever beat the originals but then again nothing wrong with hearing your favourite songs again re-interpreted !
