Lifetime - Lifetime (1974)

Lifetime - Lifetime

This fine litle LP chocked full of fusion is really a compilation album featuring tracks from the Lifetime's first three albums.  Included in this album is also one of Williams' greatest achievements and that is "Spectrum".

This album was a UK release from 1974 and is a nice compilation to own and better one to crank up!

Lifetime were a Progressive jazz rock fusion from band led by drummer Tony Williams with Jack Bruce, John McLaughlin and Larry Young.  If you are into fusion music then no question LIFETIME are an essential component to your collection!

Musically this is full head on fusion maximus.....tony of frenzied drumming....wild guitar runs and licks, horror-film like keyboard work and moving and grooving bass trawls!   Moods and tempo changes galore and even some vocals along the way (althouh sparingly used).

My favourite moment is the superb version of Coltrane\Ellington's "Big Nick" from 1962 which shows the depth of these guys!    And then there is the ode to King Crimson with "Vuelta Abajo" which harkens back to the days of RED!.

Tracks included on tis great little compilation include One Word; A Famous Blues; Vashkar; Emergency; Two Worlds; Spectrum; Big Nick; Vuelta Abajo.

This album will work magic for those dull drab days!
